Reliability
Bank feeds break. The dishonest part is pretending they do not.
Sync failures are a fifth of the one-star reviews of every app that connects to a bank, and no vendor choice makes them go away: the aggregator with the deepest direct bank relationships logged eighteen incidents in the ninety days to 8 September 2026, five of them major. So being honest about it is a feature here, with tests, rather than a chore.
Incident count from status.plaid.com, read on 8 September 2026.
Four commitments
What honest looks like on the page
- Every figure says when its feed is behind
- Net worth, this month, the tax estimate, the budget: each carries a sentence like "2 of 7 accounts behind this have not reported in 3 days. This may be short." Never a green dot over a stale number.
- Told once when a feed dies
- One email, in the same words the screen uses, with the consequence and an ask only where one applies. Once per failure, not once per morning; a feed dead for a month has produced one email.
- A provider outage is not your problem to fix
- Contha reads the aggregator's public status feed. When the failure is theirs the page says so and asks nothing of you, because "reconnect your bank" during an outage is how people lose an afternoon.
- Not a bank
- Contha reads the accounts and holds none of the money. Nothing here can freeze, hold, close or move an account. If a feed stops, the account is untouched and the page says so.
In its own words
The sentences, not a status icon
A dead feed is diagnosed into one of five states and written out as a headline, a consequence, and whether there is anything for you to do. The same sentence appears under every figure it touches, in the monthly email, and on the page your accountant opens.
- All 2 accounts behind this have not reported in 3 days. This may be short.
- Northbank needs you to sign in again.
- Bank of America is having an outage at the provider. Nothing for you to do.
- Stale connections stop importing silently. Numbers above may be short.
2 of 7 accounts behind this have not reported in 3 days.
- Pay the next quarter$3,075.84, 5 days
- Keep the reserve fundedcovered
- Review 10 transactionswaiting
What we do not promise
Uptime numbers we have not earned
There is no 99.9% on this page because there is no history yet to put behind one. What there is: a model of failure that was built before the first customer, a daily sync that iterates every reader with their own credentials, a check that runs every database migration on a scratch database before it ships, and the habit of writing the limits down. The limits are in the README, dated.
