Everything below is also said, in the same words, on the page in the product where it applies. It is collected here so nothing has to be hunted for.
Not a bank
Contha reads account data through a read-only connection and does arithmetic on it. It never holds, moves, freezes or closes money. Nothing you see in Contha is a deposit, nothing is insured by the FDIC or any other body, and no balance shown is a balance held by us. Your money is where it was: at your bank. Contha is operated by OWSH Unlimited LLC and is not a bank, a money transmitter, a broker-dealer, or an investment adviser.
Not advice
Nothing in Contha is tax advice, legal advice, accounting advice, or investment advice, and nothing here creates a professional relationship. Every figure is an estimate computed from the rows you can see under assumptions the page states: the year’s federal brackets, the self-employment tax base, your filing status and state as you set them, the categorisation of each row, and the treatment of each entity as you recorded it. A figure can be wrong because any of those is wrong, because a bank feed was behind, or because your situation has facts the product cannot know. The reasonable-compensation panel describes the factors the IRS weighs and never scores a salary. The K-1 panel ends by recommending a conversation with your accountant, and means it. What to file, pay, deduct, set aside or invest is your decision and your adviser’s.
How the tax figures are made
- Federal figures use the 2026 brackets, standard deductions, the self-employment tax base and wage limit, the qualified business income deduction, the mileage rate, the 1099-NEC threshold and the retirement contribution limits, each with its source recorded in the code. A new year is a new file.
- State income tax is modelled for the nine states with none, five with a flat rate, and New York’s brackets. Everywhere else the estimate uses the rate you typed, and says so.
- Two filing statuses are modelled: single and married filing jointly. Head of household and married filing separately are not.
- Quarterly payments are a quarter of the lesser of 90% of this year’s estimate and the prior-year safe harbour, after withholding, on the IRS dates. State estimates follow the same shape where the state is modelled.
- Basis is the simple ledger: contributions plus income less distributions. Debt basis, loss limitations and ordering rules are not modelled.
- Mileage is substantiated per trip against the four items Publication 463 requires; a trip missing any of them is counted but not deducted, and the page prices the gap.
Recommendations
The recommendations page ranks credit cards and deposit accounts against your own transactions, on our servers, and shows the computation. The catalog of cards and rates is short, assembled by us from issuers’ published terms, and every entry carries the date its terms were last checked; results are stated as computed against what we recorded on that date, not as current fact. Terms change without notice. Before applying for anything, read the issuer’s current terms.
We do not currently receive compensation from any issuer or bank for a recommendation, and no card or account is ranked higher for any commercial reason. If that ever changes, the compensation will be disclosed on the page beside the recommendation, and the ranking will not change for it. We are not a credit broker, do not decide or influence any credit decision, and never send your data to an issuer.
Bank connections and reliability
Connections are made through Plaid, under Plaid’s End User Privacy Policy. Bank feeds fail, at every product that has them, and no vendor choice makes that go away. Every figure a behind or dead feed touches says so in words on the page where the figure is shown, and you are emailed once when a feed dies. The incident count on the reliability page is read from Plaid’s public status feed on the date stated there, and can be checked at status.plaid.com.
Comparisons on this site
Each comparison page states the date it was checked and links the other product’s own published documentation, and every row is a specific presence or absence in those pages on that date. Products change; if a row is out of date, write to us and it is corrected on the page, not deleted. The other products’ names and marks belong to their owners, who are not affiliated with Contha and have not endorsed it.
Testimonials and numbers
This site carries no testimonials and no user counts, because we have none we could substantiate. Figures in the product images are from a demonstration workspace and are not a customer’s.
Analytics
The marketing site counts page views with Vercel Analytics and with Google Analytics in cookieless mode (analytics storage denied, IP anonymised, signals off). The app carries no analytics tag. Nothing about your finances reaches either.
The accountant link and the MCP server
A read-only link opens the year-end package to anyone holding the link until it expires or is turned off. The MCP server reads under the signed-in reader’s own permissions and returns no bank tokens or full account numbers. Neither is a filing, and neither changes anything.
Marks
Contha and the knot mark are marks of OWSH Unlimited LLC. Plaid, Stripe, Monarch, QuickBooks, Found, Keeper, Copilot, YNAB, Wave, Tiller and every other product named here are marks of their owners.
