Security
What we can and cannot do with your accounts
Four claims, each one checkable: how the bank token is stored, where access is enforced, what a read-only connection can and cannot do, and why no money ever passes through here. No badge stands in for any of them.
Your bank connection is encrypted with its own key
The token that lets Contha read an account is encrypted at the application layer with AES-256-GCM, so a leaked database is not a leaked connection. Everything else is encrypted in transit and at rest by the database.
Access is enforced by the database
Every table has row-level security from the first migration, so a row is scoped to its owner in Postgres rather than filtered out by the screen you are looking at.
Read-only connections
Contha can see what happened in your accounts. It has no ability to do anything to them.
We never hold your money
No transfers and no custody, which is also what keeps us out of money-transmitter licensing. We read what already happened and do the arithmetic.
