Personal, $5 a month

Your whole financial life, without a business in sight.

Every account you have in one net worth, including the house and the car. Budgets, goals, where it went, and the subscriptions that went up without telling you. It costs less than every serious alternative, and it does not make money on what it recommends to you.

No card for the trial. A year is ten months: two free.

What is in it

Everything below is in the $5 plan

Not a preview of it, and not three of these with the rest behind an upgrade. The business features are the upgrade; the personal ones are the product.

Every account, and the things that are not accounts

Checking, savings, cards, brokerage, read-only through the bank’s own connection. Then a house, a car, or a private loan entered by hand and counted on the right side rather than against you. One net worth, with history from the first sync.

Sorted as it lands

Charges arrive categorized by a rule you wrote or a merchant you have filed before. One menu on the row writes the rule from your answer, so correcting it once is the last time you do it. Nothing it is unsure about gets guessed at.

Budgets and goals that use your real numbers

A budget per category against what you actually spent, and goals with the date they land on at the rate you are going. Both read the same ledger as everything else, so neither needs maintaining separately.

Where it went

Income through to what is left, by month and by category, with the top categories labelled directly on the chart rather than in a legend you have to cross-reference.

The subscriptions that went up

Recurring charges detected from their cadence rather than from a list you maintain, duplicates caught, and a sustained price rise named on the row with the month it started. The renewal you forgot about is the point.

A card ranked on your own spending, with nothing paid to us

Your categories against real reward structures, scored on what you actually buy. There is no affiliate link, no tracking parameter and no apply button anywhere on it, so the ranking cannot be bought. Most of this category is paid per approved application.

A spouse or partner, on one plan

Their own login and their own layout, over the same rows. Shared money is the normal case and charging twice for it is not something we do.

Every figure says when its feed went stale

A bank connection that quietly stops is the failure mode of this entire category, and the usual handling is to keep showing the last number as though it were current. Contha says which account is behind and by how many days, in the same sentence as the figure it affects.

What it costs

The cheapest of the serious ones

Every figure below is from that company’s own pricing page. These are the paid personal apps Contha is actually an alternative to; free tiers are not in the list because what they cost is not the thing that makes them different.

  • Contha Personal$5 a month
  • monarchCore $8.33 a month, Plus $16.67 a month, billed annually
  • copilot$13 a month billed monthly; a yearly plan at a discount
  • YNAB$109 a year or $14.99 a month

Each figure is from that company’s own pricing page, checked 9 September 2026.

The price you sign up at is yours. A subscription carries its own price and the date it was locked, and the catalog changing does not change it. Raising the price on existing customers is the single loudest complaint in this category and the structure here makes it impossible rather than merely promising not to.

When you need the other half

Business is this plan, plus a second set of books

Nothing here is taken away and nothing is migrated. The same ledger gains a business side, a Schedule C worksheet, the quarterly estimate, and a package your accountant opens without an account. Switch whenever the business appears.
