Money
Net worth
What you own minus what you owe, at a point in time.
Assets are cash, investments, property and anything else with resale value. Liabilities are credit cards, loans and mortgages. The difference is net worth, and it is the only single figure that describes a whole financial position.
It is a snapshot, and the trend matters more than the level. A rising line over a year says more than a number on one day.
A figure that omits a house or a car omits the largest asset most people own, and a figure that omits the mortgage against it is worse than useless.
In Contha
Contha counts connected accounts and hand-entered assets like a house or a car in one figure, with the loan against each counted on the right side.
